Celebrate the Gift of Love on Valentine’s Day

Will you be sending one of the estimated billion plus Valentine’s Day cards this year?

Whilst we have embraced the celebration of St Valentine in our modern day world, the origins can be traced back at least to the middle ages and the time of Chaucer in the 14th century when the idea of love became an obsession.

I can’t think of anything nicer to be obsessed about?

Love visits us all at some stage in our lives. Be it young love which may or may not be enduring or a love that creeps up on us in our more mature years. Whenever love steals up on us it is delightful, it brings joy (and sometimes anguish) and needs to be celebrated.

You don’t need to spend large sums of money to show love and affection – something as simple as making your own Valentine’s Day card is a very meaningful gesture. You may not have played with tissue paper, glue and coloured pens since you were in elementary school but now you have the perfect excuse to do it again. Even better, you don’t have to be artistic! Offered as a gift of love, your card will be appreciated by its recipient.

Of course, if you are shy about your artistic talents you also have modern computers, the Internet and scrapbooking templates to help out if you want.

The most appreciated Valentine’s Day gifts are those that are personalized in some way for that someone special in your life. By taking time and trouble to produce something unique you can show how much you care.

Personalizing a gift can take many different forms. You could have a piece of jewellery or silverware engraved with names or initials. If you want to be gemstones, look for the appropriate birthstone to show that you do and will remember their birthday!

Fine wines and champagne are the drinks shared by lovers. Look for something exotic, unique and individual – just like your Valentine.

Valentine’s Day breaks are always popular. It doesn’t need to be to Paris! Romantic getaways can be created anywhere. It might be something as short as a romantic getaway to a nearby Bed and Breakfast. Or, you could check into a Hotel/Spa for the day and be treated like royalty. Or, a romantic dinner at a luxury hotel followed by a night of closeness and passion, making full use of those sexy gifts you bought………….

Extend your experience and your celebration to other heart pumping activities. Book a parachute jump and hold hands on the way down. Take a skiing vacation at a local resort, then sit by the fire and toast one another. Hop on a ship for a short cruise to San Francisco, the city of love.

Men and women tend to have different approaches to Valentine’s Day. They select different gifts but their goals are the same – to celebrate that special person they have found.

Whether your relationship is a days or decades old, Valentine’s Day is your opportunity to focus on your partner, to learn something new about them and to enjoy their company.

Wishing the happiest of Valentine’s Days on February 14th.

Even if you are short of funds, you can make Valentine’s Day special by simply giving your partner some special one on one time together.
